Description
29 Ladys Lane is a house located in Mears Ashby, likely dating from the 16th century, with 20th-century extensions. The building features regular coursed lias stone, which is now painted, and has a 20th-century concrete tile roof. Originally designed as a two-unit plan, it has been altered to an L-shape and is a single storey with an attic. The entrance front has a two-window range of 20th-century casements, with the right-hand windows featuring original wooden lintels. There is a 20th-century door in the center, and the left bay is a 20th-century reconstruction of a barn. The gable to the right showcases two carved heads, one depicting a bishop beneath a moulded dripstone. The left elevation includes a window and a blocked door, both with wooden lintels. Brick stacks are present at the ridge, and the rear gable displays an inscribed tablet stating: "W.P. bought this house and barn by the self 1778 for 999 years." Inside, the property has ceiling beams and remnants of an open fireplace with a bressumer in the rear room, along with some original roof structure still intact.
