Description
No. 2 Mill Street is a 17th-century house that was altered in the 19th century. It is constructed of squared coursed limestone and features roofs made of Collyweston and Welsh slate. The house has a two-unit plan and stands two storeys tall, with a two-window range of 19th-century casements. The first-floor windows are positioned directly under the eaves. On the ground floor, the left window is set under a stone lintel with a keyblock, while the right window is under a wooden lintel. The central entrance features a 19th-century plank door, also under a stone lintel with keyblocks. There is an ashlar stack on the right and a brick stack on the left end. The left gable has likely been rebuilt. The rear elevation includes two- and three-light stone mullion windows and a 19th-century lean-to with a Welsh slate roof. Although the interior has not been inspected, it probably retains an open fireplace. During the 19th century, the house was used as two dwellings by the Burghley House estate.
