Description
Duddington Bridge, located in Duddington civil parish, is a bridge that likely dates back to the 15th century and was widened in 1919. It is constructed from squared coursed limestone, limestone ashlar, and blue bricks. The bridge features four bays of single-chamfered pointed arches, along with one additional semi-circular arch on the south side, which has a keyblock. The south side also includes cutwaters with pyramid cappings at the center and left. The parapet above has been rebuilt and is supported by square piers at both ends. The arch at the north end has been widened with an outer arch that features red brick dressings. The north side was also widened in 1919, showcasing semi-circular outer arches with keyblocks and blue brick undersides. In the center of the bridge, there is a 19th-century cast iron boundary marker that indicates the division between the civil parishes of Duddington and Tixover. Duddington Bridge is scheduled as an Ancient Monument.
