Description

Mill House is a late 18th-century and mid/late 19th-century house situated on Duddington Mill Street. Built of squared coursed limestone, it has a stone slate roof. Originally designed with a 3-unit plan, it now presents a 4-window front with late 19th-century leaded casement windows under stone lintels, each with a hood mould. Late 19th-century canted wood bay windows are located on the ground floor, to the left and right. The central 6-panel door, with glazed toplights, is also under a stone lintel. Three hipped roof dormers light the attic space. The house features ashlar gable parapets, as well as ashlar ridge and end stacks. A mid/late 19th-century wing extends to the rear, incorporating sash windows under stone lintels, each adorned with a keyblock. According to records, the interior of the rear wing includes a reset 17th-century style frieze above the fireplace.
