Description

The chest tomb of Samuel Rowlatt, dating from the early 18th century, is located approximately 10 metres south of the Church of St. Mary Magdalene in Geddington. It is constructed from limestone ashlar and features a moulded plinth and cornice, with corner pilasters adorned with drops of flowers. The tomb has a flat lid and includes recessed panels with egg-and-dart moulding on the north and south sides. The east side displays a cherub's head, while the west side features a cartouche and additional cherubs' heads. An inscription on the south side, although barely legible, commemorates Samuel Rowlatt, who died around 1710.
