Description

Glebe Cottage is a house located in Easton on the Hill, dating from the 17th century and restored in the 20th century. It is constructed of squared coursed limestone and features a Collyweston slate roof. Originally designed in a T-shape, the building now has an irregular S-shape plan. The house is single storey with an attic and has an entrance front with two bays, where a cross-wing projects forward to the right. The left bay contains a 20th-century door beneath a renewed wood lintel, with a gabled eaves dormer above that has a 19th-century style casement window. The gable end on the right features a one-window range of 19th-century style windows. The return wall of the cross-wing has a similar two-window range and one gabled eaves dormer. There is an open hood with a Collyweston slate roof at the corner where the wings intersect. A stone stack is located at the ridge. The left gable has a two-light stone mullion window on the first floor, featuring narrow lights. An outbuilding attached to the rear now forms part of the house. The interior has not been inspected but likely contains remnants of open fireplaces. A wing was removed during the 18th century.
