Description
Ditchford Bridge, dating from 1330 and restored in 1927, has medieval origins. The bridge is constructed from squared coursed ironstone and limestone, featuring ashlar dressings. It has six semi-circular double-chamfered and stepped arches with large cutwaters in between. The plain parapet is partly corbelled out and includes pedestrian recesses above the cutwaters. At both ends, the bridge is approached by a causeway with three semi-circular arches. An inscribed tablet on the east elevation commemorates the 1927 restoration, and a datestone in the parapet behind the tablet is from the same period. The bridge is scheduled as an Ancient Monument.
