Description
Ditchford Bridge, located on Ditchford Road in the parish of Irchester, is a bridge that dates back to 1330, with restoration work completed in 1927. The structure is built from squared coursed ironstone and limestone, featuring ashlar dressings. It has six semi-circular double-chamfered and stepped arches, with large cutwaters positioned between them. The bridge has a plain parapet that is partly corbelled out, with pedestrian recesses situated above the cutwaters. At both ends, the bridge is approached by a causeway consisting of three semi-circular arches. An inscribed tablet on the east elevation commemorates the restoration work from 1927, and there is a datestone in the parapet at the rear of the tablet that dates from the same period.
