Description

Two houses, now combined into a single dwelling, were built in the early 19th century and restored in the 20th century. The exterior is of squared coursed limestone with a thatched roof. Originally designed as two separate houses, each with a two-unit plan, the building now presents a four-window front. These windows are casements with glazing bars, set beneath wooden lintels. The first-floor windows are topped by shallow eyebrow dormers. A central segmental arched opening gives access to the main dwelling, with a four-panel door angled to the left. A door to the second original dwelling would have been positioned at an angle to the right. The roof is hipped and features three brick stacks along the ridge. A stone buttress is visible on the right side of the building. Inside, the room to the left of the entrance retains an early 19th century fireplace with a cast-iron basket, alongside panelled window reveals. These houses were originally built to serve Fermyn Woods Hall.
