Description
Gatehouse Cottage is a house dating from the mid-18th century and 19th century. It is built from squared coursed limestone and limestone ashlar, topped with thatch and Collyweston slate roofs. The original structure was a single-unit plan and it stands two storeys high, with single-storey lean-to extensions on either side. The gable facing the road features a one-window range of casement windows with glazing bars, set under renewed wooden lintels. The flanking lean-to extensions also have similar windows. The gabled roof has catslides on both sides, with the right side covered in Collyweston slates. Each side wall has a one-window range with 19th-century style casement windows under wooden lintels. The gable elevation facing the garden is made of ashlar and has a one-window range of tall casement windows with glazing bars, set under stone lintels with keyblocks. There is a 20th-century door to the left and a stone stack at the apex of the gable. The interior has likely been remodeled in the 19th and 20th centuries.
