Description

The Old Vicarage and Vicarage Cottage is a former vicarage that has been converted into two dwellings. It features a datestone marked 1651, with extensions made in 1831 by James Richardson of Stamford and further modifications in the mid-19th century. The building is constructed of squared coursed limestone with ashlar dressings, topped with Collyweston and Welsh slate roofs.

The main facade consists of three bays, with the right bay projecting forward and featuring a hipped roof. The right side has a two-window range with unhorned sash windows set beneath stone lintels. A projecting wing includes a similar window on the first floor, with the return wall also under gauged stone heads with keyblocks. A 19th-century wooden canted bay window is adorned with an openwork castellated parapet. The central entrance is a five-panel door with a fanlight featuring diagonal glazing bars, flanked by moulded wood pilasters and topped with an open pediment. The gable ends are finished with ashlar parapets, and the right gable includes two sash windows, similar to those on the main front, also under stone lintels. The datestone is located at the apex of the gable.

Attached to the left of the main front is a 19th-century five-window range, which includes one sash window with glazing bars, while the other windows are 20th-century casements, all under stone lintels. There are 19th and 20th-century doorways at the ground floor. The interior has not been inspected. The main range appears to have been significantly remodeled by James Richardson, with the projecting wing and the range now known as Vicarage Cottage likely following in the mid-19th century.
