Description

Cotterstock House is a house dating from the early 19th century, altered in the mid to late 19th century. It is constructed of squared coursed limestone with ashlar facades and has a Welsh slate roof. The house has a double-depth plan.

The garden front has three sash windows with glazing bars, set under gauged stone heads. A central, part-glazed door is also set under a similar stone head. A cast iron verandah, supported by eight pillars and covered with a convex lead roof, runs along the ground floor. The main portion of the house has a hipped roof with stone stacks rising from the flanking slopes.

The entrance front, located to the right of the garden front and adjacent to the road, features a mid to late 19th-century panelled door within a stone surround, accompanied by side lights, all protected by a cast iron verandah with three supports. A single window range of sash windows to the left of the entrance mirrors the appearance of the garden front. 20th-century single-storey extensions and modifications have been made to the rear.

The interior was not inspected, but it is noted to contain a mid to late 19th-century staircase. The building is included on the list for its group value.
