Description
These are four houses located on Main Street, built between 1860 and 1864 for Lady Overstone, with 20th-century extensions. The houses are constructed from squared coursed lias stone and feature a slate roof. Originally, each house had a two-unit plan and they are two storeys tall. Together, they form a four-window range with double sash windows that have glazing bars, although one window has been replaced. The windows are set under flat arch heads with ashlar surrounds. The central two bays project forward and have gables above, with slit windows in the apex. The doors, which are from the 20th century, are set in original wooden frames. There are porches to the left and right of Nos. 2 and 3. The eaves overhang and there are brick and stone stacks at the ridge. Nos. 1 and 4 have 20th-century extensions on the far left and right, which are not considered to have special architectural interest. The interiors have not been inspected. The houses are included for their group value.
