Description

This is a dovecote located approximately 70 meters northwest of Eaglethorpe Farmhouse, dating from the late 17th century to early 18th century. It is built of regularly coursed limestone and features a Collyweston slate roof with a circular plan. The dovecote has a doorway with a wooden lintel, and above it, there is a casement opening also under a wooden lintel. The roof is conical and topped with a wooden glover that has a conical capping. Inside, the dovecote originally contained 797 nesting boxes made from timber, plaster, and lathe, supported by corbelled masonry; two sections of these nesting boxes still remain. The revolving ladder inside has been renewed.
