Description
Eaglethorpe Farmhouse is a farmhouse dated 1646, with alterations made in the late 18th century and throughout the 19th century. It is constructed from squared coursed limestone and features a Collyweston slate roof. The original layout was a three-unit plan, and the building stands two storeys high with an attic. The front has a three-window range of mid-19th century tripartite sash windows that are set under gauged stone heads. There are three hipped roof dormers with casement windows that include Gothic glazing bars. The farmhouse has ashlar gable parapets, as well as ashlar ridge and end stacks. A gabled staircase turret projects from the left side of the rear elevation. On the return wall to the right of the main front, there is a 19th century panelled door with a plain classical surround. Some of the casement windows on the rear elevation also feature Gothic glazing bars. Although the interior has not been inspected, it is noted to have an 18th century staircase with square newels and turned balusters, remnants of an open fireplace, and stop-chamfered spine beams.
