Description

The Old Rectory is a house that was originally a rectory, likely built in the late 17th century with alterations in the early and mid 19th century. It features squared coursed limestone with roofs of Collyweston slate and 20th-century plain tiles. The building has been altered from its original two-unit plan to a four-unit plan and stands two storeys high.

The main front has a five-window range of 19th-century casements with wooden lintels. To the left of the centre is a 19th-century part-glazed door, also under a wooden lintel, with a glazed garden door to the far left. The gable parapets on the left are made of ashlar, and there are brick and stone stacks at the ridge and ends. The two bays on the left likely date from the 17th century, while the two bays in the centre right are from the early 19th century. There is a mid-19th-century one-unit extension to the far right.

On the rear elevation, the original two bays on the right project forward and have remnants of two leaded casements on the first floor. Inside, the entrance hall, which is part of the original building, was remodelled in the early 19th century and features six-panel doors and a staircase with stick balustrades. There is a stop-chamfered spine beam in the room to the far left.
