Description

The Malt House and attached outbuildings is a farmhouse with origins in the 17th century, extended in the mid-18th century and 19th century. It is constructed of squared coursed limestone and features a Collyweston slate roof. Originally designed as a two-unit, lobby-entry structure, it has been modified into a three-unit L-shaped range. The building is one and two storeys high, with some parts having an attic.

The main façade consists of a four-window arrangement featuring irregular cross casement and 19th-century sash windows, all set beneath wooden lintels. There are small single-light windows located on the ground floor at the far left and to the right of the centre, also under wooden lintels and with quoins. A six-panelled door, positioned to the left of centre, is similarly placed under a wooden lintel. The building has ashlar gable parapets and ashlar ridge and end stacks.

To the left is a 19th-century one-unit extension that mirrors the main building but has lower eaves. At the rear, there is a range of outbuildings with a central cart entrance, showing evidence of different construction phases and varying roof pitches. The building at the end of this range may have served as a malting facility and features ashlar gable parapets along with the remnants of a metal revolving roof vent.
