Description
The Worlds End Public House, dating from the mid-18th century, is a public house located on the south side of Northampton Road. It is built from squared coursed lias stone and features a slate roof laid in diminishing courses. The building was originally designed with a two-unit plan and has two storeys with an attic. The façade includes a three-window range of early 20th-century casements set in original openings, which are topped by gauged stone arches. There is a central stone porch from the 19th century with part-glazed doors, a moulded stone cornice, and three flat-topped roof dormers with casements. The gable ends are adorned with ashlar parapets and kneelers, and there are brick stacks at the ridge and ends. An attached barn to the left has a blocked carriage arch, and the rear of the building is similar, featuring 20th-century extensions. The interior has not been inspected. The public house was originally known as The Globe.
