Description
No. 17 and the attached outbuildings are located on Doddington Road in Earls Barton. This building, dating from the early 18th century, was originally two houses that have since been combined into one dwelling. The structure features regular coursed lias and limestone, topped with a combination of 20th-century concrete tile and corrugated asbestos roofs. It is two storeys high and has a three-window range of 19th-century casements beneath wooden lintels. A central 20th-century bay window is situated under a tiled hood. To the far right, there is a 19th-century plank door, and to the far left, a part-glazed door, both also under wooden lintels. The building has gable parapets and brick stacks located at the ridge and ends.
The former dwelling, now an outbuilding attached to the right, is two storeys high with a two-window range of casements under wooden lintels; the first-floor right window retains remnants of leaded lights. It also features a central 19th-century plank door beneath a wooden lintel. A large external stone stack on the right gable projects under the rear roof. The interior has not been inspected but may include an open fireplace.
