Description
Tall Trees is a building located on Main Street in Fotheringhay, dating from the early 19th century. Originally two houses that have been combined into one dwelling, it is constructed of squared coursed limestone and features a slate roof. The building is two storeys high, with a three-window arrangement on the first floor and a five-window arrangement on the ground floor. The windows are two-light casements with pointed heads, adorned with Gothick glazing bars and plain ashlar surrounds. The plank door, which also has a pointed head, shares a similar ashlar surround. There are brick and stone stacks at both ends of the building. It appears that the windows and doors may have been interchanged during the conversion into a single dwelling. The rear elevation has similar windows and includes former wash houses that are attached at right angles to the center. The interior has not been inspected.
