Description

Home Farmhouse is a farmhouse dating from 1756, with significant additions from the mid-19th century and late 19th century. The front facade is of squared coursed ironstone, while the gables are of regular coursed limestone, topped with a 20th-century stone slate roof. Originally built with a T-shaped plan, the main front has three windows, though the centre window is now blocked. The windows are 19th-century casements in original openings, with flat arches and keyblocks above. A central 6-panel door is set under a flat arch with keyblock, and a 2-light stone-mullioned window illuminates the cellar to the left of the entrance. A moulded stone cornice runs along the top of the front, with the remains of roof dormers above. Ashlar gable parapets, kneelers, and stone stacks are present at the ends of the building. The garden front, to the left of the entrance front, features a six-window range of 19th-century stone-mullioned windows with transoms, and a central gable porch. The centre block displays an 18th-century moulded stone cornice and the original datestone. Flanking wings were added in the mid-19th century and late 19th century. The interior was not inspected, but the kitchen contains remains of an open fireplace.
