Description

This is a house, dated 1681 as indicated by a datestone, located on the west side of Harrowden Road in Orlingbury. It is constructed from squared coursed ironstone and limestone with a thatched roof. Originally built with a two-unit plan, the house is two storeys high with an attic. The front features a three-window arrangement of cross windows with leaded top lights on the first floor, all set beneath wooden lintels. A central 19th-century six-panelled door is topped by a rectangular fanlight, also under a wooden lintel. The gables are finished with ashlar parapets and kneelers, and brick stacks are located at the ends of the building. A datestone is set into the left gable. The house is reputed to have been a public house at one time. The interior has not been inspected.
