Description
The Cottage is a house located on Harrowden Road in Orlingbury, dating from the late 17th century, 18th century, and 19th century. It is built of regular coursed ironstone and limestone, topped with a 20th-century plain-tile roof. The original layout was likely a four-unit plan. The building has two storeys and features a six-window range on the first floor, which includes 19th-century sashes and casements with glazing bars, all set beneath wooden lintels. The ground floor has a four-window range with a central 19th-century canted wooden bay, flanked by sashes under flat stone arches. To the left, there is a 20th-century door, also under a flat stone arch. The house has ashlar gable parapets and brick stacks at the ridge and ends. A mid-18th-century wing is attached to the rear. The interior has not been inspected but is noted to have panelled window reveals.
