Description
The Town Hall, originally built as a Temperance Hall in 1868, is located on Berry Green Road in Finedon. It is constructed of squared coursed ironstone with ashlar dressings. The building features a first-floor hall above a former hall-keeper's dwelling. The south elevation includes a central gabled porch with a pair of panelled doors set in a moulded stone surround with an arched head, topped by a small trefoil. Above, there is a tall three-light first-floor window with a square stepped head and a moulded stone surround. The stepped gable features ashlar parapets, kneelers, and an arched head finial with the datestone. A clock with a moulded stone surround is positioned above the windows. The north elevation mirrors the south but is simpler, with a central arched opening, also with a moulded stone surround, providing access to the first-floor hall. The side elevations consist of four-window ranges with two-light windows that have moulded stone surrounds and pointed heads on the first floor, separated by two-stage buttresses. Lateral stone stacks are present. Inside, the first-floor hall retains a 19th-century exposed roof structure.
