Description

Whitundale Farmhouse, now a house, likely dates to the early 17th century and was altered in the 18th century. It is constructed of squared, coursed, and banded limestone and ironstone, with thatch and pantile roofs, and follows a four-unit plan. The building is two storeys high with an attic, and has a five-window front with a blank central opening. A central 19th-century door has a part-glazed panel and a gabled hood. A 19th-century French door is located at the far right. Sash windows with glazing bars are set beneath stone lintels with keyblocks. A single 3-light casement window on the first floor to the far left has a moulded stone surround. A fire window is present on the ground floor to the left. Ashlar gable parapets are featured, with brick and stone stacks located at the ridge and ends. The left gable has a large chimney projection. The right gable includes a sash window beneath a wooden lintel, and an attic window with a moulded stone surround. The rear elevation features a projecting wing to the left with a casement window contained within a moulded stone surround, and a sash window above. It has a thatched pyramidal roof. A lean-to extension to the far left is covered with a pantile roof. The interior has not been inspected.
