Description
The Laurels is a farmhouse that underwent early 19th century remodelling of an earlier building. It is constructed from coursed limestone rubble with ironstone dressings and features a 20th century interlocking concrete tile roof with coped gables. The structure includes a stone stack at the left end and two lateral brick stacks on the right. The main block has a cross-wing on the right and a lower projecting addition on the left. It stands two storeys high with an attic and has a three-bay front that is approximately symmetrical around a 19th century gabled porch. This porch has an arched opening that shelters double panelled and part-glazed doors. The windows are 8/8 sash types with jambs and gauged heads made of ironstone. There are similar but smaller windows in the gabled dormer to the left and in the gable of the cross-wing to the right, along with a small single-light window above the porch. The flank of the cross-wing features another 19th century gabled porch. The lower projecting wing to the left has casement windows in surrounds that resemble those of the main block and includes a moulded stone end stack. The interior has not been inspected.
