Description

This is a cottage, likely dating from the mid-18th century, with a datestone reading "Robt Tweltree carpenter 1801." It is constructed of squared coursed limestone with a 20th-century plain tile roof. Originally planned as a two-unit dwelling, the cottage has a two-storey, two-window front. The windows are 20th-century casements with glazing bars, set beneath wooden lintels. A central 19th-century plank door is sheltered by a 20th-century rustic porch. A brick and stone stack is located at one end. A 19th-century brick lean-to extends to the right. The rear elevation is largely blank. Inside, you’ll find an open fireplace with a bressumer and a salt cupboard, as well as ceiling beams and a timber-framed cross wall.
