Description
No. 11 North Street is a house dating from the early to mid-18th century. It is constructed from regular coursed and squared lias and ironstone, topped with a corrugated metal roof. The building originally had a three-unit plan but has been altered to an L-shape. It stands two storeys high and features a three-window elevation facing the road, with 20th-century casements set in original openings beneath wooden lintels, some of which have been renewed. There is evidence of different construction phases at both the far left and right ends of the building. The house has ashlar gable parapets and kneelers on the right side, as well as the remains of a kneeler above a straight joist on the left. It has brick and stone stacks at the ridge and end. The rear elevation is similar, featuring a central 20th-century door and porch, along with a mid-18th-century wing that projects to the right. The interior has not been inspected, but it is noted to have ceiling beams. This building is included for its group value.
