Description

Wood Hollow is a rectory that has been converted into a house. It dates from the mid 17th century, with later additions from the mid 18th century and mid 19th century. The building is constructed of squared coursed ironstone and limestone, topped with Collyweston slate roofs. Originally, it likely had an L-shaped plan, but it now has a more complex layout.

The house is two storeys high with an attic and features a garden front that has an 8-window range. To the right, there is a 4-window range from the 18th century, which includes casement windows, one of which has leaded lights, all set under wooden lintels. To the left, a 4-window range from the 19th century showcases sash windows with moulded stone surrounds.

On the ground floor to the left, there is a large canted stone bay window. The roof features two pairs of gabled dormers with bargeboards, and the eaves are at two different levels, with the left gable also displaying bargeboards. There are ashlar stacks at the ridge and end of the building. The left elevation has a 19th-century entrance that is framed by a moulded stone arch-head surround. The right elevation includes a large 19th-century stone mullion staircase window. The rear elevation, dating from the 17th century, has a 2-window range featuring 2- and 3-light stone mullion windows, with a large tripartite sash under a flat stone arch on the left gable. The interior has not been inspected.
