Description

The Old Bakehouse is a house that dates from the late 17th century, with mid-18th century and 19th century alterations. It is constructed of squared coursed ironstone and brick, topped with concrete tile and slate roofs. The original layout was a three-unit plan, and the building has two storeys.

On the first floor, there is a three-window range. To the left, there are two sash window openings, one of which is now blank, while the other features sashes with glazing bars, both set under gauged stone heads. To the right, there is a two-light stone mullion window. The ground floor has a 20th-century casement window to the left. The central door, also from the 20th century, is set under a wooden lintel and shows signs of re-fenestration on both sides. The gable ends have ashlar parapets and kneelers, with truncated ashlar and brick stacks at the ridge.

To the right, there is a 19th-century one-unit, two-storey extension with a brick facade, which includes two sash windows with shallow brick arches at the ground floor. The rear elevation features a five-window range of 20th-century casements set in 18th-century openings, all with gauged stone heads. The interior has not been inspected.
