Description

Greystones is a house likely dating from the mid to late 18th century. It is constructed of squared coursed ironstone with a 20th-century plain tile roof. Originally built with a two-unit plan, it now has a four-window facade with 19th-century casement windows under wooden lintels. A central 19th-century glazed door is also topped by a wooden lintel, and the roof features brick gable parapets with brick stacks at each end. A single-storey, one-unit extension was added to the right side in the late 18th century, incorporating an attic and a large 19th-century square bay window. Modern extensions are present at the rear. Inside, the hall contains a staircase with a broad stick balustrade. A room to the right of the entrance retains the remains of an open fireplace with a bressumer, while the room furthest to the right also has remnants of an open fireplace and a winding staircase to its left. The ground floor rooms are characterised by high ceilings with spine beams, including stop-chamfered spine beams with run-out stops.
