Description

This is a row of three houses at numbers 8 to 12 Market Place, dating from the 18th century. Number 8 has a cleaned and repointed rubble exterior with a steep stone slate roof. A band separates the first and second floors, and there is one sash window on each of the three storeys. These windows have glazing bars, and the first-floor windows are topped with stone voussoirs. The ground floor has a modern shop front and an old-style cornice. Number 10, a later 18th-century building, has an ashlar front and brick to the side, with two brick stacks. It also has two sash windows with glazing bars and a band between the first and second floors, along with a modern shop. Number 12, dating from the late 18th century, has a Welsh slate roof, an ashlar front, and a stone stack. It features two sash windows with glazing bars, stone voussoirs, and a band between the first and second floors. A late 19th-century and modern shop fronts the building, along with a passage doorway. Number 10 is the tallest of the three buildings. These buildings are considered to have group value when viewed together with other listed buildings in Market Place.
