Description

Nos. 50, 52, and 54 High Street is a house that has been converted into three dwellings. It dates from the mid-17th century, with a roof structure from the 19th century. The building is constructed of squared coursed limestone and features a concrete tile roof. Originally designed as a three-unit plan, it stands two storeys tall and presents a four-window range.

The first floor has two-light stone mullion windows, while the ground floor features similar three-light windows. The window on the far left of the first floor is blocked, and the far right window is a 20th-century casement. There are small single-light fire windows in the centre of the ground floor and on the left side of the first floor. A 20th-century shop window is located on the far right. The doors on either side of the centre are also from the 20th century; the left door is set under a wood lintel, and the right door is under a stone lintel with a keyblock.

There are brick stacks at the ridge and at the ends of the building. The three-window range on the left is the original facade, while the bay on the far right and the roof structure are likely from the mid-19th century. Inside, No. 54 features spine beams, and No. 50 retains the remains of an open fireplace along with stop-chamfered spine beams. The building is included in the listing for the survival of its fenestration.
