Description
Daventry Farmhouse and the attached outbuilding are a farmhouse dating from the late 17th century and mid 18th century. The building is constructed of squared coursed limestone and features a Collyweston slate roof. It has an L-shaped plan and stands two storeys high with an attic. The main front has a three-window range of 20th-century top hung casements set in original openings beneath stone lintels. There is a central 20th-century door also under a stone lintel. To the right, a stone gabled eaves dormer contains a casement window with glazing bars. The farmhouse has a chamfered plinth, ashlar gable parapets, and ashlar stacks at both ends. The rear wing is built differently from the main front and has several casement windows beneath wood lintels. The attached outbuilding at the gable end features plank doors on both the ground and first floors. The elevation of the rear wing facing the road includes one two-stage and one single buttress, with brick and stone stacks at the ridge. Inside, the kitchen in the rear wing retains the remains of an open fireplace with a bressumer. The kitchen and the room to the right of the entrance have moulded spine beams.
