Description

Oak Cottage is a house dating from the late 17th century to early 18th century, with some 20th-century alterations. It is constructed of squared coursed limestone and features thatch and corrugated asbestos roofs. The left gable is made of squared coursed and banded limestone. The building originally had a two-unit plan and is a single storey with an attic. It has two bays and an irregular three-window arrangement of casement windows, which are set under wooden lintels. The window on the left has a low cill. There are plank doors located at the far left and right, also under wooden lintels, with the right door featuring glazed panels. The house has two eyebrow dormers with casement windows and an ashlar gable parapet on the right side, along with a brick stack at the ridge. The left gable includes a casement window in the attic, also under a wooden lintel. There is an eyebrow dormer at the rear, as well as lean-to extensions with a corrugated asbestos roof. The interior has not been inspected but likely includes a blocked open fireplace.
