Description
The riding school, built in the mid-19th century for the Seventh Earl of Cardigan of Deene Hall, is located approximately 65 meters northwest of Deene Hall. It is constructed of pale red brick and features a Welsh slate roof with a circular courtyard plan. The open arcade surrounding the courtyard has square wooden posts between the bays, and there are two carriage entrances leading into the courtyard, one of which provides access to the stables situated about 50 meters northwest of Deene Hall. The outer walls between the entrances are blank, and the building has a pitched roof. Inside, the outer walls are battered to prevent riders from clipping them. Originally designed for exercising horses, several bays have been converted into garages in the 20th century.
