Description
Castle Farmhouse is an early 19th-century farmhouse located on Thurning Road. It is constructed of squared coursed limestone and brick, topped with a slate roof. The building originally has an L-shaped plan, with the main front featuring a three-window range. The central entrance consists of a six-panel door with a rectangular fanlight above, all set beneath a gauged stone head with a keyblock. The sash windows, which have glazing bars, are also positioned under gauged stone heads with keyblocks. The roof is shallow and gabled, with ashlar gable parapets and brick stacks at both ends. At the rear, there is a mid-19th-century stone bay window, along with a mid-19th-century brick extension. Inside, the entrance hall features an early 19th-century staircase that includes quarter landings and a stick balustrade. The farmhouse was drawn by George Clarke in 1847, as noted in the Northamptonshire Records Office's Pictorial Collection.
