Description
The Montague Arms Public House is a public house dating from the early to mid-18th century, with restoration work carried out in the 20th century. It is constructed from regular coursed and squared limestone and features a plain tile roof from the 20th century. The building likely originally had a three-unit plan and has a four-window range. On the left side, there are two 19th-century style casements beneath wood lintels. To the right, there is a sash window with glazing bars and a canted bay window. The attic features 19th-century style casements under Lincolnshire dormers. The central entrance is a 20th-century door set beneath a wood lintel. The bay on the left is a later addition. The building has brick stacks at the ridge and ends, and the gable ends show evidence of 20th-century raising in the brickwork. Inside, there are ceiling beams, some remodelling from the 20th century, and evidence of some original roof structure. The building is included for its group value.
