Description
Yarwell Mill is a watermill built in 1839, featuring squared coursed limestone with ashlar dressings and a Welsh slate roof. The building has a rectangular plan and stands three storeys tall. Originally, it had a seven-window range, but it now has an irregular four-window range of 20th-century casements with glazing bars in the original openings, all under stone lintels. There is a 20th-century doorway located at the far left. The mill displays ashlar quoins and ashlar gable parapets with kneelers. The gable ends also have one-window ranges. The rear elevation includes a 20th-century lean-to extension. Inside, the machinery has been removed, but some cast iron columns remain, and the mill wheel was originally located in the center of the building. This mill replaces an earlier structure that is shown on the enclosure map from 1778.
