Description
Maidcroft House is a house that dates from the early 18th century and 19th century, with earlier origins. It features a cruck-framed structure made of regular coursed limestone and ironstone, topped with a slate roof. The house was originally designed with a three-unit lobby entry plan and has two storeys. The front has a three-window range with 19th and 20th century casement and sash windows, all set under wooden lintels. To the right, there is a 20th century panelled door with a wooden surround. The house has brick stacks at the ridge and end. The rear elevation includes a barn that is now part of the house, attached to the left side. One first floor window retains a leaded casement with original glass. Inside, there are open fireplaces with bressumers, including one that features a 17th century style fireplace with a four-centred head. The roof structure is a raised cruck design. The house is included for its group value.
