Description

The Old Manor House is a house dating from the late 17th century and the mid-18th century. It is constructed of squared coursed and ashlar ironstone with a slate roof. Originally it likely had a two-unit plan. The house is two and three storeys high, with a four-window front. A single three-light stone mullion window is situated on the first floor to the left, with a sash window beneath it, protected by a wooden lintel, and a casement window above. Three sash windows, all dating from the 19th century, are placed on the first floor to the right, each set beneath a scored stone lintel with a keyblock. Two similar openings are on the ground floor to the right, one of which has now been blocked. A central 19th-century door, glazed and panelled, features a moulded wooden surround and a hood. The house has ashlar gable parapets with kneelers, and brick stacks at each end. A one-bay brick extension, also from the 19th century, is attached to the right. The left gable has two single-light windows from the 19th century, each with a stone surround. Inside, there is an open fireplace with a bressumer, and a wooden spiral stair.
