Description

Manor Farm House is a late 17th-century manor house that was extended in the mid-19th century by E.F. Law. It is constructed of regularly coursed ironstone and features a Collyweston slate roof. The building originally likely had a three-unit plan, with a 17th-century wing at the rear right, which has a three-window range of three-light stone mullion windows. There are two 20th-century doors between the windows, each with moulded stone surrounds and four-centred arch heads; the door on the right is probably from the 19th century. The house has ashlar gable parapets and stone stacks at the ridge and ends.

To the left, there is an L-shaped range that may have 18th-century origins but appears mainly to be from the mid-19th century. This section has a four-window range of 19th-century two-, three-, and four-light stone mullion windows. The ground floor left features a large canted stone bay window, and there is a central 19th-century panelled door with strap hinges and a moulded stone surround. The bay to the right projects forward as a gabled cross wing, which has a three-light stone mullion window in its apex. The building also has ashlar gable parapets, kneelers, and stone stacks at the eaves and ends. A plaque on the lateral stack to the right indicates that the house was restored in 1865. Although the interior has not been inspected, it is reported to contain a courtroom used for manorial purposes.
