Description

South Farmhouse, now a house, likely dates to the late 17th century and was altered in the 19th and 20th centuries. It is constructed of squared coursed limestone with a reconstituted stone slate roof. The building has a 3-unit plan and two storeys, with a four-window front. The windows are 19th-century style casements under wooden lintels, with one window above the front door being a 20th-century addition. A 4-panel door, a 20th-century replacement, is located to the left of centre under a reconstituted stone lintel. The house has ashlar gable parapets and ashlar ridge and end stacks; one stack has a moulded cornice. The rear elevation is similar, featuring a projecting corner window and some 20th-century windows. Inside, the entrance hall contains a staircase with a stick balustrade. Rooms on either side of the entrance hall have open fireplaces with bressumers, and the fireplace to the right of the entrance also has an oven. The interior also features stop-chamfered spine beams. The building was reportedly used for a time as the Dun Cow public house.
