Description

Spencer's Farmhouse is a 17th-century timber-framed house originally comprising three bays, with a later, narrower bay added to the right. The timber frame was later covered in early 19th-century brickwork. The roof is tiled. The windows are a mix of small-paned casements with chamfered timber mullions, and a central horizontal sliding sash window. A large stack of 17th-century brick sits between bays two and three, and a doorway is located in bay three. The ground floor openings have cambered heads. A lean-to addition on the right side mirrors the window style. A 17th-century timber-framed rear wing extends to the right, with brick infill and further outshots. This wing has a 19th-century slate roof. The interior retains heavy timber framing, large jowls to the posts, chamfered and stopped spine beams with run-out stops.
