FINGEST AND LANE END MOOR COMMON The Barn, with adjoining gateway (formerly listed as Barn and Gateway adjoining and to north of Moor Farm)

House, formerly barn, and gateway. Barn is C17-early C18, converted and part rebuilt c.1975. Flint and brick, some timber studding with brick infill to upper walls of left bay and C20 extension to right. Half-hipped old tile roof, C20 brick chimney between left bays. 4 aisled bays with slightly later aisleless bay to left and small L-plan range of outbuildings, raised C20, set back to right. One storey and attic. S.E. front has C20 paired leaded casements in gabled dormers to bays 2 and 3, and hipped roof projection in bay 4 over former cart entry, now with C20 4-light leaded casement. Rear has similar casements, 4 in gabled dormers, with French doors to bays 1 and 4, and C20 door in bay 2. Interior retains timber frame with heavy diagonal braces to tie beams and aisle plates, and raking queen post trusses. Queen strut trusses to left bay. Gateway attached to right is 1928. Narrow red and vitreous brick. Chamfered semi-circular arch, flanking pilasters with moulded capitals, frieze and moulded cornice, shaped parapet with 2 oeils-de-boeuf.
