Description
Signpost Cottage is a house dating from the 17th century, with the east and west walls reclad in 1718. It features a timber frame with brick dressed rubblestone casing on the east and west gable elevations, and plaster infill within the framing. The roof is thatched. The building consists of three bays and two storeys, with two blocked doors on the front that date from when the house was divided into cottages in the late 18th century. There is a rubble plinth and three two-light leaded casements. Gable stacks are present, and the gable elevations have brick quoins and gable above bands. The left gable has a blocked oven opening. A date plaque under the left chimney indicates '1718'. At the rear, there are one-storey lean-to additions to the outer bays, with exposed framing between.
