Description
Meadowcroft Cottage and Meadowcroft Farmhouse are two houses located on Ascott Lane in Princes Risborough. The building dates back to the 16th century with a 17th-century range at the northeast end and an early 19th-century block at the southwest end. The 17th-century range features timber framing with whitewashed brick infill, while the ground floor and left gable have been rebuilt in brick. It has an old tiled roof with flanking brick chimneys and stands two storeys high with three bays. The windows are wooden casements with two and three lights, totaling four on each floor, and there are doors between the bays. To the right, there is a 20th-century projection made of whitewashed brick and half-timbering. The early 19th-century block is rendered and colourwashed, topped with a slate roof, also two storeys high with three bays. It has four-pane sash windows on either side of a central three-pane window, with a central 20th-century door. The 16th-century bay has a front rebuilt in brick, featuring 20th-century wooden casements and a door. The timber-framed rear wall, which has a jettied first floor, is obscured by a later extension. Inside, some framing is exposed, along with wood stop-chamfered spine beams and joists, queen strut trusses, and curved wind-braces.
