Description

Clapgate is a cottage dating from the early 19th century. It features whitewashed render over flint and chalk, with an old tile roof and a brick chimney on the right side. The building is one storey with an attic and consists of two bays. The windows are barred wooden casements, with a 2-light window on the ground floor to the left, a 3-light window to the right, and a 2-light window in the eaves-line dormer on the right. There is a flush-panelled door in the centre, which has a 20th-century corrugated plastic hood above it. All ground floor openings have segmental heads. To the right of the cottage, there is a weatherboard shed with a pantile roof. Clapgate is included for its group value.
