Description
This is a barn and attached range located to the southwest of Bishopstone Farmhouse, dating from the 18th century. The barn is timber framed and sits on a brick plinth, featuring weatherboarded walls. The two southern bays have been rebuilt in brick and are topped with a sheet asbestos roof, which is higher over these bays. There are cart doors in the second bay from the northern end, and the structure consists of six bays. Inside, the barn has jowled posts with curved braces, tiebeams with curved principals that support lower purlins, and collars under the upper purlins. At the northern end, there is a lower building with weatherboarded walls and a tiled roof, which is attached to a cowshed range on the northern side of the farmyard. A brick wall separates the property from Moretons Lane, and this section also has a tiled roof.
