Description

Whitakers is a house that was formerly two separate cottages, built in the mid-18th century, with one cottage dated 1747 on the brickwork. The building has been altered in the 20th century. It features colourwashed brick and thatched roofs, which have a half-hip over the gable facing the road, along with brick chimneys. The structure is L-shaped and has one and a half storeys. Each original cottage consists of two bays, with a 20th-century link in the angle. The windows are irregular 20th-century leaded casements, with those on the first floor set into the thatch. There are central doorways, with the left-side doorway located in a gabled porch. A county fire insurance plaque is also present. The cottage on the right has a later matching extension at its right end. This building is included for its group value.
